Skateboarding has proven to be a catalyst for improved academic achievement and behavior among children in our small town. The desire to skate motivates young individuals to excel academically, as they understand the importance of finishing homework and maintaining good grades to continue pursuing their passion. Skateboarding for youth has made a transformative change within our small town. By providing a recreational activity that is accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic background, skateboarding has become a unifying force. It has given our youth a sense of belonging and purpose.  It empowers them to overcome challenges in everyday life. The Bluetile Skateshop Crew has spent many Saturdays for over 2 years skateboarding with our youth. Seasoned local skaters provide encouragement and support to young skaters.

Positive Improvement of Blighted Spaces

Skateboarding has played a pivotal role in working to improve a  blighted neighborhood park within Friarsgate. This skatepark  youth to continue mastering their skillsskaters to showcase their skills but also serve as gathering places for the community. The revitalization of these blighted spaces has not only improved the aesthetics of our town but has also encouraged social capital and community engagement. People from diverse backgrounds come together, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
